Steps for Democracy
What does Democracy mean to You? Steps for Democracy will bring you ten
challenging documentaries about democracy, produced by independent
filmmakers from around the world.

Steps for Democracy aims to create a genuinely global event and debate.
Broadcasters throughout the world will transmit the 10 documentaries
simultaneously in January 2007.

The global debate will be backed by public discussions, radio
programmes, internet and a special distribution programme for
educational purposes.

First films commissioned
Three films have been commissioned for the Steps For Democracy project: Weijun Chen's China Child Democracy, Thomas Balmes's Bigger Garden and Jehane Noujaim's Mastermind of Democracy.
Projects for development
Steps For Democracy project group received some 300 proposals from all
over the world. By end of June, 12 projects have received
development money for manuscript and/or research.
